ExpoCastDB is being developed by the National Center for Computational Toxicology (NCCT) in partnership with EPA's National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL) to capture results from observational studies measuring potential exposure to environmental chemicals. The prototype database:
Is a collection of databases from studies funded by NERL and collated by the NCCT to facilitate public access and cross study analyses.
Consolidates data from studies where chemicals were measured in environmental and biological media, searchable by chemical name, other identifiers, and by chemical structure.
Provides access to data on chemical structure, physico-chemical values, levels of chemicals measured in environmental media including air, house dust and food, and levels of chemicals or metabolites measured in biological media including urine.
Integrates with ACToR (Aggregated Computational Toxicology Resource) enabling linkages to other public hazard, exposure and risk resources.
Future versions of ExpoCastDB will provide additional user functions including:
Access to additional datasets
Enhanced filtering capability to facilitate downloading of customized datasets
Capability to estimate distributional parameters for exposure modeling
Visualization tools
The general data model is presented here. Focus of this prototype is data on chemical measurements and associated media. The data model is designed to allow future versions to incorporate specific information on sampling methods, location, sources and study subject where applicable.
